Melanie Swan is the Founder of the Institute for Blockchain Studies, a non-profit organization articulating the philosophical and societal research agenda for blockchain technology (Bitcoin Protocols 1.0 and 2.0 Explained: http://www.slideshare.net/lablogga/presentations). She is a contemporary philosophy graduate student at Kingston University London and Université Paris 8 focusing on information theory and technology philosophy. Her research interests include an ethics of perception of nanocognition, the philosophy of big data, the ideology of the biocitizen and the quantified self, the future of personal identity, and the case for cognitive enhancement. She has a traditional markets background with an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and work experience at Fidelity and JP Morgan. She is a quantitative methods and prediction markets instructor at Singularity University.
